Going beyond the Venus of Love and Money
Understanding Venus’ placement in our birth charts is a deep journey if we move beyond the superficial interpretations of Venus.

And I won’t lie, it is a journey that can bring up all kinds of uncomfortable truths about the way we go about the relationship to ourselves and with others. But if this current Venus Retrograde is showing us anything, it’s that the world desperately needs us to show more courage when it comes to exploring our hidden depths and shadows.
Venus in Scorpio was guiding us to lean in our emotional body and become honest about co-dependent and anxious relationship patterns, self-worth challenges, and resistance towards intimacy and more. As she continues her retrograde in Libra, we now have an opportunity to share some of the reflections with our loved ones and then refine them further when she moves back to Scorpio again early December.
Now I am going to be honest, but I personally don’t know too many of my female friends or clients who have such amazing relationships that they wouldn’t want to change something. I’m sure their partners would say the same. They might want a deeper emotional connection, more time with their partners, a better sexual union or just more mutual respect. So why is that? Because most of us are holding unhealed pieces of ourselves. The feminine archetypes within are screaming to be heard, held and healed.
Our Venus placement by sign, house and aspect starts to uncover a feminine story that is just waiting for us to pay attention to. Until we truly face the truth of our inner reality, and explore our pain and dysfunction, we won’t be able to truly embody the untapped feminine power we also have buried inside of us. Our untapped power holds the potential for abundance, purpose, connected friendships and deep intimate love.
In Evolutionary Astrology the aim is always to get to the source of where our feminine wounds were first formed. This is most often from a recent prior lifetime. What I have found over and over again in the birth charts of women who hold a lot of feminine oppression, pain and trauma in this lifetime, is that they have been incarnating as a female over and over in order to resolve the challenges and karmic patterns held in their souls.
Just a few of the challenging Venus signatures we find in a chart that can indicate prior lifetime karmic challenges are: Venus square to the lunar nodes, Venus conjunct the South Node, the South Node ruled by Venus (so in Taurus or Libra), hard aspects to Venus, such as squares, quincunxes and oppositions and also Venus Retrograde.
All of these signatures hold evolutionary pressure that is needed in this lifetime in order to resolve the past. However, if we don’t explore our Venus deep enough, and move beyond money, sex and values, then we will never uncover the karmic story for healing.
Also, Venus is just the beginning of the story. She is the eye of the storm so to speak but we gather more details from some of the Feminine asteroids such as Ceres, Juno, Pallas, Vesta, Lilith as well as True Black Moon Lilith and the Venus Star Point sign. Synthesising this altogether reveals a feminine story to heal but also empower.
If more of us did this level of deep work, this would mean that more of the younger generation would have mothers, sisters, aunts and grandmothers who are in touch with their deep core power. Feminine healing models a way of being that breaks cycles of disempowerment, abandonment, betrayal, victimisation. This brings back the warrior feminine who also knows how to love and yield but with boundaries and a sense of her power and purpose.
This is one of my favourite kinds of work as a therapeutic evolutionary astrologer. Walking women home to themselves, in love and empowerment.
